We're home!July 21, 2008 @ 8pm in Peru (168 days ago) - View/add comments at Blogger.com Just a quick post, remotely from one of the vehicles on the way home (connecting from my laptop through Glenn's mobile) to let you know the biggest crew travelling together has now arrived safely back in Australia, after 38 hours of travel from our hotel in Lima!!
Thanks for all your prayers for our safe travel, and to the welcoming party who met us at the airport!
---
Well we're stuck in a traffic jam here on the Bruce Hwy, and still have 3G internet access, so here are a few photos!
A couple of the team catch up on some sleep at the LAN Lounge during our 11-hour stopover in Santiago, Chile! It was the most comfortable way to spend such a long stopover (unlimited drinks and snacks inside) though unfortunately this time the shower was not available.
Kate and Jayden utilising the high speed internet... sending messages to each other!
And then after 2 flights (13hrs 20 mins to NZ then 3 hrs 52 mins) we saw Australian soil - Stradbroke Island! Beautiful weather flying into BNE airport
Jayden pushes Lara along on a baggage trolley. Lara holds the welcome sign that was there with the welcoming party!
A few team members and their family - all happy to be back, and to have their family back!
Other team members, all happy to be back on the ground, with all their luggage!
Jayden made a humorous presentation to Lauren, the team member who two weeks before our departure had a motorbike accident and wasn't able to come... this is a "Wanka" team shirt - one of the local football teams in Peru! More info
Thanks again for all your support everyone. Will post more photos from the project as we get them.
God bless,
Ben (the team blogger :-) | Recent posts
