The work continues - day nine

Well I'm on a mission to get this blog up to date, and this internet cafe I've been using for the last couple of days is working quite well. It's slow, but steady!

Here's all the crew leaving the hotel and heading up to the work site with the town manager, in a little Suzuki 4WD ute. Normally it's a dual cab 4x4 ute, but after 16 years the clutch just died, so it's getting fixed!
Overflow passengers caught this motor-taxi, who waited patiently outside for a couple of late-risers to be ready. Many motor-taxi drivers know about our project now, through the many rides they have given us. Today I asked one to take me where the Australiano's are working - and he took me right there! Shook my hand when he dropped me off, too. It's nice that they appreciate us helping them out here in their town!
Here Carolina moves some dirt. She's always smiling, which is great!
Sibling team of Sam and Kate on the job
Fernando loading up Carolina's wheelbarrow
The boys transporting some hand-made steel supports
An action shot of Sam K
Putting the concrete mixer in place. We move this thing around the site like oxen normally wood!
Steve with a stack of of concrete powder ready to go. We go through these 42.5kg bags real quick!
Pepe the town manager giving us a hand to tidy up at the end of the day
Almost home! Sam K often prefers to walk back from the job site. Here pedestrians give way to traffic, even on zebra crossings
Some of the school kids seeing if their favourite team members are back yet!

So yeah, day nine involved finishing another lot of concrete work! The team works really well at this, and is very fast. I timed how long it takes for us to make 5 wheelbarrow loads of concrete (the mixer's capacity). With water, concrete powder, and three people shovelling river sand and rocks into the mixer, it took just under 1 1/2 minutes from an empty mixer to concrete being poured into the wheelbarrows. Nice work team!!
